Verify Floyd County Supervision

Floyd County parole and probation records answer different questions about post-release supervision in Kentucky. Parole follows a prison term, while probation usually comes from a court sentence served in the community. To verify Floyd County post-release supervision, start with the state corrections record, identify the correct supervision district, and compare any Parole Board action with the person’s current status. A release from jail or prison does not by itself mean supervision has ended. The most reliable Floyd County parole and probation check uses a matched person record, the responsible office, and an existing status or discharge document.

Floyd County Parole vs Probation

Kentucky assigns two separate roles to agencies involved in community supervision. The Kentucky Parole Board decides eligible parole cases. The Kentucky Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole supervises people after the decision takes effect. A Floyd County court can instead order probation as part of a sentence. That person may never have served a prison term.

Both statuses can place rules on travel, reporting, treatment, and conduct. Yet they arise through different legal paths. A parole grant is not the same as the date someone physically leaves a prison. Release planning, another hold, or processing may delay the exit. Probation begins under a court order, and a later violation can return the case to court.

These differences matter in Floyd County because a person may leave the county detention center, Southeast State Correctional Complex, or another Kentucky prison. Each source points to a different first record.

Parole
Supervised community release before the sentence is finally discharged.
Probation
A court-ordered community sentence subject to stated terms.
Discharge
The formal end of a custody or supervision obligation shown in an agency record.
Absconder
A supervision label indicating alleged loss of contact or noncompliance, not a normal release status.

Check Floyd County Post-Release Supervision

The official starting point is Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, or KOOL. Search with the most exact name available and use a DOC or PID number when known. Name alone is not enough to identify a person. Open the detail and read Current Location, Supervision Status, County of Supervision, and displayed date fields together.

  1. Identify the custody source. Decide whether the person left the Floyd jail, a Kentucky prison, or another system.
  2. Search KOOL. Begin with few fields, match the identifying numbers, and open the exact record.
  3. Read the location as a status clue. A District 11 or Interstate Compact entry generally points to community supervision, while a prison or jail points to custody.
  4. Compare the release event. Use VINE, a DOC Daily Releases file, or the county release transaction to confirm when physical custody ended.
  5. Check the legal authority. For parole, consult Board schedules and request the action sheet. For probation, obtain the Floyd court judgment and later orders.
  6. Contact the assigned office. Ask only whether public information shows active supervision and which office is responsible.

KOOL says its entries and accuracy updates occur daily, but recent details may not be final. A District 11 location is not proof that all supervision has ended. An Interstate Compact label can mean Kentucky retains a record while another state handles day-to-day supervision.

Important: A Parole Board grant starts a release process. It does not prove the person walked out on the hearing date.

Floyd County Supervision Office

Floyd County belongs to Eastern Region District 11. The official District 11 page lists a Floyd satellite in Prestonsburg and district headquarters in Pikeville. It does not provide a public person-name lookup, set public walk-in rules, or list a universal reporting day. Call before relying on office access.

The district headquarters is at 172 Division Street, Suite 336, Pikeville, KY 41501. Its phone is 606-433-7776 and fax is 606-433-7012. The Floyd satellite is the more specific starting point when KOOL shows District 11 in Floyd County, but staff may limit what can be disclosed.

The District 11 office page is shown below as a visual reference.

The page distinguishes the Prestonsburg satellite from the Pikeville headquarters, which helps route a Floyd County supervision question.

Floyd County Absconder Status

Conditions are set by the controlling court, Parole Board, and DOC record. Public sources may show a supervision status, but private schedules, treatment data, home details, and case notes may be restricted. An *** ABSCONDED *** notation in KOOL means alleged loss of contact or noncompliance. It should not be rewritten as a new conviction, a confirmed arrest, or a routine community release.

No official public Floyd-specific absconder list was found. Check KOOL, then ask District 11 about the public status the agency can confirm. A warrant may follow alleged noncompliance, but the warrant record and custody record must be verified through the responsible court or agency. VINELink is useful for custody changes, not as a complete supervision docket.

When a violation is alleged, the sequence can include a warrant, arrest, revocation review, and a return to custody. Outcomes differ. Do not infer the result from a stale location field.

Note: A missing KOOL result can reflect search mismatch or another jurisdiction, so it is not proof that supervision never existed.

Ending Floyd County Supervision

Leaving a jail or prison and finishing a sentence are separate milestones. Kentucky’s retention schedule makes that distinction explicit. The offender master file can become inactive when a person is released from custody but remains on parole or supervision. It closes only after all time and probation have been served.

Useful documents include a status-change record, notice of discharge, parole certificate, Board action sheet, and the court’s final orders. Request an existing record rather than asking an agency to create a narrative. The Parole Board open-records page routes requests for a written decision or action sheet. Include the name and DOC number when known.

For a full custody-release check before reviewing supervision, use the Floyd County released inmate search and record path. A physical release record shows the custody event; a discharge document shows that the later legal obligation ended.

Floyd County Parole Board Records

The Kentucky Parole Board schedule page publishes monthly calendars and eligibility lists. Hearings occur weekly, and the Board states that schedules are updated on Monday mornings. An eligibility list can show the offender name, DOC number, offender location, eligibility month, indictment number, conviction date, offense, and county grouping.

County grouping refers to county of conviction. It is not the person’s home, release destination, or present prison. A person at Southeast State Correctional Complex may have a conviction from elsewhere. Likewise, someone convicted in Floyd County can be housed outside Floyd.

A calendar entry is not a release record. Board outcomes can include grant, deferment, serve out, revocation action, or reconsideration. Mandatory reentry supervision can also occur under Kentucky law without a favorable discretionary parole grant. After a hearing, compare KOOL and Daily Releases, then request the written action sheet if the result must be documented.

Hearings can occur before the actual eligibility date, so a listed month should not be copied as a release month. Public observation rules concern access to proceedings, not participation in a case. Match the DOC number and county of conviction before connecting Board material to a person.

For documentary proof, request the action sheet by name and DOC number. Then compare it with the later DOC status. A grant may be followed by conditions and planning. A serve-out result differs from a deferment, while a revocation record concerns supervision after an earlier release.

Floyd County Reentry Resources

Kentucky DOC maintains a District 11 Community Resources directory for the region that includes Floyd County. Its categories include identification, transportation, health, treatment, and family or community resources. It is a navigation source, not a guarantee that a provider will accept a person or offer a specific service.

Use the current directory details and contact a provider before travel. Program rules and availability can change. The resource page also does not replace the reporting instructions given by a supervision officer.

Identification and transportation entries can help after a Floyd County custody transition, but they do not alter the legal status in KOOL or a court order. Health and treatment listings identify possible contacts rather than confirmed placement. Keep resource navigation separate from status verification.

When records disagree, preserve the source, date, and exact label. Contact the office responsible for that field. The jail confirms its physical release transaction, the Board documents its decision, DOC maintains supervision status, and the court explains probation authority.

Note: District 11 resources can support a transition, but only the assigned officer or official record can state binding supervision terms.
